      The Flip Side

An almost 500-year-old plate depicting the abduction of Helen, the trigger for the Trojan War.

The back records the year it was made, 1534 (MDXXXIIII), along with the artist’s signature and a verse describing the mythological scene on the front. Too beautiful of a plate to be used for dinner!
