In 1960, Wallace Berman opened the Semina Gallery on a houseboat near his home in Larkspur, California, where he lived with his wife Shirley and son Tosh. The roofless structure served as the site for informal, single afternoon exhibitions of his friends, including George Herms, Charles Brittin, and Edmund Teske.
