Feigen-Palmer Gallery
Richard Feigen and Herbert Palmer opened Feigen-Palmer Gallery at this location in 1963. Through 1968, the gallery showed work by a mix of modern and contemporary artists. It made a name for itself by showing contemporary British artists such as David Hockney and Bridget Riley, and also hosted John Cage and David Tudor’s Variations IV (1965). After Feigen pulled out, Palmer continued to run the gallery for decades after.
