Huysman Gallery
In 1960, curator Henry Hopkins opened the Huysman Gallery across the street from Ferus Gallery on La Cienega Boulevard in order to showcase a new generation of local talent. Its most notorious exhibition, War Babies, featured the work of Larry Bell, Ed Bereal, Joe Goode, and Ron Miyashiro, and caused a stir because of its controversial poster. As a result, the gallery closed its doors in the summer of 1961.
