Turnabout Theatre
The Turnabout Theatre was established on La Cienega Boulevard in 1941. Until 1956 it ran a successful and often sold-out production that included a marionette performance followed by a stage review. In 1956, the owner of the theater turned over the greenroom to artist Edward Kienholz, who called it the NOW Gallery and used the space to exhibit the work of West Coast artists.
