From 1977 to 1978, architect Frank Gehry reworked the facades and interiors of the home he had purchased at this location, producing a dynamic and unexpected twist on the traditional suburban California home. Gehry used simple materials such as corrugated aluminum siding, chain-link fencing, and plywood. By wrapping the original structure with the siding, he create new spaces around the edges of the building. It remains one of the early examples of what has come to be known as deconstructivist architecture.
