Doug Chrismas first established the Ace Gallery in Vancouver, but resettled in Los Angeles in 1966. The gallery has made a name for itself by showing cutting-edge artists from both coasts, such as Richard Serra, Robert Irwin, and Carl Andre. For this invitation, Wheeler was inspired by the plastic signage found on airplanes.
