Womanspace, a cooperatively run gallery devoted to work by female artists, opened in January 1973 in a converted laundromat on Venice Boulevard. The gallery maintained an ambitious schedule of exhibitions and programs, and eventually moved into the first location of the Woman’s Building, 743 South Grandview, in late 1973 before closing in June 1974.
