my name is: John Chapman
i'm sharing: two photographs. One is a line of trees at the Getty taken in winter. The other is the reflection of shoes taken in a pool at the Getty that is no longer filled due to the CA drought. The trees are a vision of Al Gore's world if climate change were to elevate to an extreme. The trees are infested and diseased, and the earth is blistering hot where only the pink flamingos in your yard can survive. The shoes are the reflections of the hot, tired visitor to the Getty in summer.
this was inspired by: Impressionist "art." Every photograph is a realistic rendering of a subject. The challenge to the photographer is to present that rendering in another form that will awe a viewer.
to me, inspiration is: the 10-lb. hammer held in the unseen arm above your head that says create or go pay your apartment rent.
