I am an art historian who taught at the University of Konstanz until 2013. My books deal with different fields of research including early Netherlandish painting, semiotics, maps, and diagrams. My latest publications—some co-written with Bernd Stiegler—are on photography and photographic theory. Most of my studies are written in German. Available in English is the book Robert Campin: A Monographic Study with Critical Catalogue (New York: Prestel 2002).
