Los Angeles Council of Women Artists Report, June 15, 1971. The Getty Research Institute, 2003.M.46
In response to the Art and Technology exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the ad hoc L.A. Council of Women Artists issued a report in which they protested the total absence of women artists from the show, as well as generalized artworld sexism. Setting a precedent for later feminist groups (such as the Guerrilla Girls), the LACWA also compiled statistics on the underrepresentation of women in both the museum’s collections and its exhibitions.
