On View at the Getty Center: Greetings from L.A.: Artists and Publics 1950-1980
In the 1970s, Los Angeles became an epicenter of the feminist movement. Engaged artists responded to the sexism they encountered in the male-dominated art world by constructing separate spaces. Womanspace Gallery was one such institution, converted from a former Laundromat.
