About: Anja Foerschner

I'm a research specialist at the Getty Research Institute and co-curator of the exhibition World War I: War of Images, Images of War (November 18, 2014–April 19, 2015). I received my PhD in art history from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. My research encompasses modern and contemporary art with a special emphasis on contemporary art from Los Angeles.

      First look at a hidden Rembrandt.

      We’ve known about the young man lurking underneath Rembrandt’s An Old Man in Military Costume since the painting was first X-rayed in 1968. Now science has finally caught up to (some of) our questions, allowing a tentative color reconstruction of the hidden painting.
